Attractions in Brooklyn
Brooklyn is a beautiful and tranquil town with first class restaurants and attractions - a secret place to escape and so close to Sydney.

Ducks and Swans on the Hawkesbury

Dine out in Brooklyn with a great variety of restaurants including  Jay Jays and the Mooney Mooney Workers Club . For those who want to wander by water there is the Dangar Island Bowling Club , Dangar Island Cafe, Cottage Point Inn, Peats Bite (famous for weddings) and Berowra Waters Inn, which are all only accessible via water taxi from our private Marina by arrangement.

There's also family-friendly parks and picnic areas with fabulous water views.

Other amenities and attractions in and around Brooklyn include:

  •  Local boat hire
  •  Cruises
  •  Ferries
  •  Water Taxis
  •  Marinas
  •  Enclosed sandy swimming pool
  •  National Park walks
  •  Train station

Nearby (300 metres), why not hire one of the many small motor boats (most don't require a licence to drive) from Brooklyn Central   and enjoy the great fishing on the Hawkesbury River. There's an abundance of fishing spots where you can catch Jewfish, Snapper, Whiting or Flathead. Have a great day out on the water or just explore the many creeks and beautiful Hawkesbury River.

If you feel like something really different, why not stay at Brooklyn on Hawkesbury and book a night cruising the Hawkesbury in a Houseboat! Houseboats can be hired just down the road at Ripples , Luxury Houseboats or Holidays-A-Float . Many of our guests stay with us the night before (avoiding the morning rush to pick up their boat) and after their cruise (to recover and relax).

Extensive public access to the Hawkesbury River in most places around Brooklyn allow you to enjoy shore fishing and picnics in quiet sheltered areas with a privacy that will surprise you.

Brooklyn has a shopping village including a post office, general and specialist stores. All day-to-day needs are catered for and the specialty shops are a great browse.

Attractions in the Brooklyn Region and Lower Hawkesbury

Brooklyn and its surrounding regions has many world class attractions catering for, not only visitors from within Australia, but also overseas.

From Brooklyn Wharf, why not enjoy a Hawkesbury River Cruise to Wisemans Ferry or Patonga Beach and enjoy lunch or Devonshire Tea. Enjoy the Last Postmans' Cruise or a Crab Oyster Cruise on the MV Islander II. Within 20 kilometres, you'll also find:

If you're adventurous, enjoy the beauty of the world renowned 'Great Northern Walk' in the Ku-ring-gai National Park. The walking track passes through Brooklyn to Cowan or Woy Woy and you can take a train back to Hawkesbury River Station.

From Parsley Bay, walk to Dead Horse Bay, a hidden sandy beach secluded from Brooklyn in the National Park.

For the more energetic, cycle the Old Pacific Highway and return to Brooklyn on one of the frequent local train services.

Cottage Point, Peats Bite and Berowra Waters all have award-winning restaurants - why not catch a water taxi from our Marina.

Just 20 minutes away is Glenworth Valley Horse Riding , Australia's largest horse riding complex. Stay with us, enjoy the horses during the day and relax at Brooklyn on Hawkesbury at night.

Historic Dangar Island is easily accessible by boat, ferry (regular service on the hour) or water taxi and offers a licensed bowling club with restaurant  on the weekends, a beautiful tranquil waterfront coffee shop serving delicious all-day breakfasts or just enjoy the many scenic walking tracks or a swim at the beach. This is the perfect trip for anyone who wants to really 'feel' the Hawkesbury. The ferry also visits Wobby Beach.  See 'River living' in its purest form!
